Deepak Gupta belongs to the 1974 batch of the IAS. BA from Allahabad
University, MA History from St. Stephen’s College, M Phil from School of
International Studies, JNU and MPA from Kennedy School, Harvard University
as Mason Fellow.

He served for 39 years in many departments in center and state including
a posting as jute and coir advisor in the ITC Brussels, spent 9 years in Health
including a year as Advisor, WHO Delhi for the TB programmer. He retired as
Secretary, MNRE September 2011 where he initiated the National Solar Mission.
From November 2014 to September 2016, he was Chairman of the UPSC.

                                                                    About the Exam:

UPSSSC has proposed to use a two-tier examination system for future selections due to the high number of candidates applying for recruitment examinations for a limited number of posts.
Tier I–PET Exam
Tier II–Mains Exam/Skill Test

Additionally, the UPSSSC has decided to implement the UPSSSC Preliminary Eligibility Test | PET Exam Pattern for all Group C posts of various departments of the state at the first level.
After that, on the basis of PET marks only, at the second level, it has been decided to organize mains examination, skill test, and physical efficiency test, etc. for shortlisted candidates as per departmental requirements and related service manuals.
